About

Ascentage Pharma Group International is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical firm dedicated to discovering and developing innovative therapies for various cancers, chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV), and age-related conditions. Its operations are concentrated across the United States and Mainland China. Ascentage Pharma's flagship therapeutic candidate, HQP1351 (Olverembatinib), is a BCR-ABL inhibitor specifically designed to target BCR-ABL mutants, including those carrying the T315I mutation. This compound is intended for patients suffering from chronic phase chronic myeloid leukemia that has become resistant to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Beyond HQP1351, the company boasts a robust pipeline. This includes APG-2575 (Pelcitoclax), an orally administered, selective Bcl-2 inhibitor undergoing Phase Ib/II clinical studies for hematologic and solid tumors; APG-115 (Alrizomadlin), an oral small molecule designed to inhibit the MDM2-p53 protein-protein interaction for various solid and hematological malignancies; and APG-1387 (Nevadotinib), a small molecule inhibitor of apoptosis proteins targeting advanced solid tumors and chronic HBV infections. Further advancing its portfolio, Ascentage is developing APG-1252 (Atoloclab), a small molecule drug aimed at restoring apoptosis by selectively inhibiting Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL proteins for conditions such as small cell lung cancer (SCLC), lymphoma, and other solid tumors. The pipeline also features APG-2449 (Glecirasib) for non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC); APG-5918, an orally available and selective EED inhibitor with best-in-class potential in its preclinical phase; APG-265, currently in IND-enabling stages for hematological and solid tumors; and UBX1967/1325, a Phase II candidate targeting the Bcl family for diabetic macular edema (DME). The company maintains strategic collaboration agreements with prominent biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as academic institutions. Key partners include Innovent Biologics, Inc., the National Cancer Institute, Pfizer Inc., and Clover Biopharmaceuticals (Hong Kong) Co., Limited. Established in 2009, Ascentage Pharma is headquartered in Suzhou, China.

FAQs

Can Indian residents buy Ascentage Pharma Group International stock?

Yes. Ascentage Pharma Group International (6855) has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2019, in the Biotechnology industry, and Indian residents can buy it through Paasa. You fund the account from your Indian bank under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme and the money is converted to US dollars and then to HKD. Shares are held in your own name at Interactive Brokers, segregated from Paasa's own assets.

How much does one Ascentage Pharma Group International share cost in rupees?

One Ascentage Pharma Group International share is HK$28.90 — about ₹354 at an HKD/INR rate of 12.25 on 24 Sep 2026. Both the Ascentage Pharma Group International price and the rupee rate move during the day, so the rupee cost changes with them.

What are the LRS and TCS rules for buying Ascentage Pharma Group International from India?

Remit up to $250,000 per financial year under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). Banks collect 20% tax at source on LRS remittances above ₹10 lakh in a financial year; the TCS is adjustable against your income-tax liability. FX and the LRS declaration are handled by your bank when you fund your account.

What is the minimum I can buy of Ascentage Pharma Group International?

Many Hong Kong listings trade in board lots, so the smallest order is one lot rather than one share.

How are gains on Ascentage Pharma Group International shares taxed in India?

Hong Kong generally does not levy capital gains tax on non-resident individual investors for HKEX-listed stocks, so the tax is an India-side one. Gains on shares held for more than 24 months are long-term and taxed at 12.5%. Gains on shares held for 24 months or less are short-term and taxed at your income-tax slab rate. The gain is computed in rupees using the HKD/INR rate on the purchase and the sale date, so the rupee move counts alongside the Ascentage Pharma Group International price. Paasa issues a capital-gains statement for your return.

Does Ascentage Pharma Group International pay a dividend?

No. Ascentage Pharma Group International does not currently pay a dividend, so holding it produces no dividend income to declare in India. If it starts paying one, the Indian treatment is the usual one — dividends are taxed at your slab rate in India — and Paasa's dividend report would show the gross amount and any tax withheld.

When can I trade Ascentage Pharma Group International from India?

The Hong Kong Stock Exchange trades 7:00 am – 1:30 pm IST in Indian time. It also halts for lunch, 9:30 am – 10:30 am IST. Orders can only execute during that window.

Is Ascentage Pharma Group International a Hong Kong SAR China company, and does that change how it is taxed?

Ascentage Pharma Group International trades on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in HKD, but the company is domiciled in China. Ascentage Pharma Group International trades as an ordinary share listed directly in Hong Kong, not a depositary receipt. Your India-side capital-gains treatment is the same either way.

Do I have to declare Ascentage Pharma Group International shares in my Indian tax return?

Yes. Foreign shares held on 31 March must be reported in Schedule FA of your Indian income-tax return. Paasa gives you a Schedule FA-ready statement listing your Ascentage Pharma Group International holding, its cost and its closing value.

How do I sell Ascentage Pharma Group International and bring the money back to India?

You sell during market hours (7:00 am – 1:30 pm IST) and the proceeds settle in HKD in your Paasa account. From there you can hold the balance, reinvest, or repatriate. Funds can be withdrawn in any currency to any bank account in your own name. Whether the sale is short- or long-term is decided by the 24-month holding period.
