About

SCOR SE is a prominent global player specializing in life and property & casualty (P&C) reinsurance. The company extends its comprehensive coverage to diverse markets spanning Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas (including Latin America), and the Asia Pacific region. Its business is strategically organized into two distinct segments: SCOR Global P&C and SCOR Global Life. The SCOR Global P&C division delivers an extensive range of reinsurance products for areas such as property damage, motor vehicle incidents, casualty treaties, credit and surety, decennial insurance, aviation, marine and energy, engineering projects, agricultural risks, and major property catastrophes. This segment further provides specialty coverage for complex risks including business solutions, political and credit exposures, cyber threats, and environmental impairment liability, alongside fostering business ventures and partnerships. Conversely, the SCOR Global Life segment focuses on providing life reinsurance protection for a variety of risks, including mortality, morbidity, behavioral factors, disability, long-term care, critical illnesses, medical expenses, and personal accidents. It also offers sophisticated financial solutions that integrate traditional life reinsurance with financial elements, aimed at improving clients' liquidity, balance sheet stability, solvency positions, and overall income. Additionally, this segment develops longevity solutions, designed to mitigate the financial impact on insurers or pension funds arising from insured individuals or annuitants living longer than actuarially anticipated. Distribution solutions are also a key offering. Beyond its core reinsurance operations, SCOR SE is actively involved in asset management. Established in 1970, the company is proudly headquartered in Paris, France.

FAQs

Can Indian residents buy SCOR stock?

Yes. SCOR (SCR) has been listed on Euronext Paris since 2000, in the Insurance - Reinsurance industry, and Indian residents can buy it through Paasa. You fund the account from your Indian bank under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme and the money is converted to US dollars and then to EUR. Shares are held in your own name at Interactive Brokers, segregated from Paasa's own assets.

How much does one SCOR share cost in rupees?

One SCOR share is €33.16 — about ₹3,627 at an EUR/INR rate of 109.37 on 25 Sep 2026. Both the SCOR price and the rupee rate move during the day, so the rupee cost changes with them.

What are the LRS and TCS rules for buying SCOR from India?

Remit up to $250,000 per financial year under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). Banks collect 20% tax at source on LRS remittances above ₹10 lakh in a financial year; the TCS is adjustable against your income-tax liability. FX and the LRS declaration are handled by your bank when you fund your account.

How are gains on SCOR shares taxed in India?

Gains on shares held for more than 24 months are long-term and taxed at 12.5%. Gains on shares held for 24 months or less are short-term and taxed at your income-tax slab rate. The gain is computed in rupees using the EUR/INR rate on the purchase and the sale date, so the rupee move counts alongside the SCOR price. Paasa issues a capital-gains statement for your return.

Does SCOR pay a dividend, and how is it taxed in India?

Yes. SCOR pays a dividend and the current yield is 5.73%; the last declared dividend was €1.90 per share, about ₹207.81. Dividends are taxed at your slab rate in India. Paasa's dividend report lists the gross dividend and any tax withheld for each payment.

When can I trade SCOR from India?

Euronext Paris trades 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm IST in Indian time. The window shifts to 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm IST when France is on standard time. Orders can only execute during that window.

Do I have to declare SCOR shares in my Indian tax return?

Yes. Foreign shares held on 31 March must be reported in Schedule FA of your Indian income-tax return. Paasa gives you a Schedule FA-ready statement listing your SCOR holding, its cost and its closing value.

How do I sell SCOR and bring the money back to India?

You sell during market hours (12:30 pm – 9:00 pm IST) and the proceeds settle in EUR in your Paasa account. From there you can hold the balance, reinvest, or repatriate. Funds can be withdrawn in any currency to any bank account in your own name. Whether the sale is short- or long-term is decided by the 24-month holding period.

Does the rupee rate affect what I make on SCOR?

Yes. SCOR is priced in EUR, so your rupee outcome combines the EUR move with the EUR/INR move between the day you remit and the day you convert back. Both directions are reflected in the capital-gains statement Paasa issues.
