It also manufactures thermoplastic components, PTFE membranes, abrasion-resistant materials, magnet and aluminum bars, spinel products, sintered parts, EV quick-charger connector assemblies, coaxial cables, and RGB laser modules. In the Environment and Energy sector, Sumitomo Electric delivers diverse systems and products tailored for railway and transport applications. Its Industrial Materials segment encompasses cutting tools, including diamond/CBN grinding wheels, drills, endmills, and milling and turning tools. Additionally, it provides PC steel wires, high-strength shear reinforcement, laser optics, and magnesium alloy components. The company was founded in 1897, originally known as Sumitomo Electric Wire & Cable Works, and adopted its present name, Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd., in 1939.
