About
This index aims to mirror the financial performance of a specific market segment: large and mid-capitalization companies situated in developed European nations, all exclusively belonging to the Information Technology sector, as classified by the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS). Holdings are weighted according to their market capitalization, adjusted for publicly available shares (free-float), utilizing MSCI's Capped Indexes methodology. This approach caps the largest affiliated entity at 35% of the index and all other related group entities at 20%, with a 10% tolerance band applied to these limits during both regular and any necessary monthly ad-hoc rebalancings. A core element of this index is its comprehensive ethical screening process, which systematically excludes companies involved with controversial weapons, those with an MSCI ESG Rating of 'CCC' or that are unrated, and firms generating certain revenue thresholds from activities such as tobacco, conventional or nuclear weaponry, civilian firearms, thermal coal, unconventional and/or arctic oil and gas extraction, or palm oil. Furthermore, any issuer receiving an MSCI Controversies Score of zero is omitted. The index also strives for a reduced greenhouse gas intensity compared to its benchmark index. Detailed information on the index's design, including its selection and weighting criteria, is available on the MSCI website at https://www.msci.com.
