About
The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight UCITS ETF Acc is designed to mirror the net total return performance of its benchmark, the S&P 500 Equal Weight Index (referred to as the "Reference Index"), after accounting for applicable fees. This Reference Index comprises all companies found in the standard S&P 500, but crucially, it assigns an equal weighting to each constituent security, rather than weighting them based on their float-adjusted market capitalization. This approach aims to provide a size-neutral reflection of the US large-cap equity market, encompassing approximately 80% of the available market's total value. The index undergoes rebalancing on a quarterly basis. To achieve its objective, the fund primarily employs a physical replication strategy, striving to acquire and hold, as far as feasible, all the securities of the Reference Index in their designated weightings. The fund's holdings are subsequently rebalanced in parallel with the Reference Index's own schedule. This ETF operates under a passive management framework. Investing in this fund means acquiring units in a passively managed, index-tracking investment vehicle, rather than obtaining direct ownership of the underlying assets held within the fund.

Is SPEQ a UCITS ETF?
Yes. Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight UCITS ETF is a UCITS fund domiciled in Ireland, set up under the European Union's UCITS rules for funds sold across Europe. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange ETF segment and trades in US dollars.
What are SPEQ's largest holdings?
The top three are MODERNA INC USD0.0001 (0.3%), Everpure Inc CLASS A USD0.0001 (0.3%) and ILLUMINA INC USD0.01 (0.3%). SPEQ's 10 largest positions make up 2.6% of the fund.
Is SPEQ subject to US estate tax?
No. Because SPEQ is domiciled in Ireland rather than the US, it is not a US-situs asset, so US estate tax does not apply to it. US-listed ETFs held directly can be taxed at up to 40% above $60,000 when they pass to your family.
How are US dividends taxed inside SPEQ?
The US withholds 15% on dividends from the US shares the fund holds, and that tax is paid inside the fund. You cannot claim it as a Foreign Tax Credit in India.
How are gains on SPEQ taxed in India?
Units held for more than 24 months are long-term and taxed at 12.5% without indexation; units held for 24 months or less are taxed at your income-tax slab rate. The gain is worked out in rupees, so the currency move counts.

How is SPEQ different from a US-listed ETF?
SPEQ is domiciled in Ireland rather than the US. That keeps it outside US estate tax, and dividend withholding on its US shares is 15%, paid inside the fund, instead of the 25% withheld on a US-listed ETF. The 25% can generally be claimed as a credit in India; the 15% cannot. Capital gains on both are taxed the same way in India.
