About

This Invesco MSCI Emerging Markets UCITS ETF Acc endeavors to replicate the net total return performance of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, its benchmark, after accounting for management fees. The Reference Index is crafted to gauge the equity market's performance across global emerging economies. It incorporates a broad spectrum of large and mid-capitalization companies within these nations, typically encompassing about 85% of their publicly traded market value. To fulfill its goal, the fund primarily invests in a portfolio of equities. While these holdings are the main drivers of its performance, they generally do not exactly mirror the constituents of the benchmark index. Additionally, the fund utilizes unfunded swap agreements with authorized financial institutions. These contracts facilitate the exchange of any performance discrepancies between the fund's equity basket and the index, aiming to deliver a more precise and consistent alignment with the index's returns than could be achieved through physical stock replication alone. As a passively managed, index-tracking fund, investing in this ETF means acquiring units in the fund itself, rather than gaining direct ownership of its underlying assets.

Is MXFP subject to US estate tax?

No. Because MXFP is domiciled in Ireland rather than the US, it is not a US-situs asset, so US estate tax does not apply to it. US-listed ETFs held directly can be taxed at up to 40% above $60,000 when they pass to your family.

How is MXFP different from a US-listed ETF?

That keeps it outside US estate tax, and dividend withholding on its US shares is 15%, paid inside the fund, instead of the 25% withheld on a US-listed ETF. The 25% can generally be claimed as a credit in India; the 15% cannot. Capital gains on both are taxed the same way in India.
