About

The Invesco MSCI Europe UCITS ETF Acc aims to mirror the total net return performance of the MSCI Europe Index, accounting for its own charges. This benchmark tracks the equity market performance of established European nations, encompassing major and medium-sized companies. It represents roughly 85% of the market capitalization, adjusted for free float, within each country. To achieve its goal, the fund typically invests in a portfolio of stocks. While this portfolio generates most of the fund's returns, it usually differs from the actual index components. Additionally, the fund utilizes unfunded swap agreements with approved financial institutions. These contracts enable the exchange of any performance difference between the underlying stock basket and the reference index. This hybrid approach seeks to deliver a more precise and consistent alignment with the index's performance than purely physical replication would typically allow. Crucially, although the fund's investment objective is to replicate the standard net total return index, the swaps refer to an enhanced Withholding Tax version of the index. Consequently, the ETF's performance, prior to fees, is expected to surpass that of the standard net return index. To help cover some operational expenses, the Manager might receive an annual contribution of up to 0.060% of the swap's notional value from the active swap counterparties. This contribution does not affect the Fund's net asset value and does not impose any extra cost on investors. This ETF is managed passively. Investing in this fund means acquiring units in a passively managed, index-tracking vehicle, rather than directly owning the underlying assets held by the fund.

Is MXEU subject to US estate tax?

No. Because MXEU is domiciled in Ireland rather than the US, it is not a US-situs asset, so US estate tax does not apply to it. US-listed ETFs held directly can be taxed at up to 40% above $60,000 when they pass to your family.

How is MXEU different from a US-listed ETF?

MXEU is domiciled in Ireland rather than the US. That keeps it outside US estate tax, and dividend withholding on its US shares is 15%, paid inside the fund, instead of the 25% withheld on a US-listed ETF. The 25% can generally be claimed as a credit in India; the 15% cannot. Capital gains on both are taxed the same way in India.
