About
This Invesco UCITS ETF is designed to mirror the net-of-fees performance of its benchmark, the MSCI Europe ex UK Universal Select Business Screens Index. This underlying index focuses on large and mid-sized companies located in developed European economies, excluding the United Kingdom. Its investment approach emphasizes Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations, aiming to boost exposure to companies that not only exhibit strong ESG practices but also show a positive trajectory in enhancing their ESG credentials, achieved through adjusting their market capitalization weights. The construction of this benchmark index begins with the broader MSCI Europe ex UK Index. From this base, it systematically screens out companies that meet any of the following criteria: They lack an ESG assessment or rating from MSCI. They have been implicated in significant ESG-related controversies within the past three years. Their MSCI ESG Rating is 'CCC'. They derive revenue from controversial weapons, conventional weapons, nuclear weapons, civilian firearms, oil sands, thermal coal, tobacco, or recreational cannabis. Subsequently, all eligible constituents are assigned a composite ESG score. This score combines MSCI's current assessment of their ESG standing with the observed trend in their ESG rating over time. The resultant composite score is then utilized to adjust the weighting of these securities within the index. The index undergoes rebalancing every six months. For detailed information regarding MSCI ESG Ratings, please visit: https://www.msci.com/esg-ratings. The ETF operates under a passive management strategy, meaning it is designed to track its index rather than actively select securities. Investors acquire units in the fund itself, not direct ownership of the underlying assets it holds.

Is ESEU subject to US estate tax?
No. Because ESEU is domiciled in Ireland rather than the US, it is not a US-situs asset, so US estate tax does not apply to it. US-listed ETFs held directly can be taxed at up to 40% above $60,000 when they pass to your family.

The US withholds 15% on dividends from the US shares the fund holds, and that tax is paid inside the fund. You cannot claim it as a Foreign Tax Credit in India.

How is ESEU different from a US-listed ETF?
ESEU is domiciled in Ireland rather than the US. That keeps it outside US estate tax, and dividend withholding on its US shares is 15%, paid inside the fund, instead of the 25% withheld on a US-listed ETF. The 25% can generally be claimed as a credit in India; the 15% cannot. Capital gains on both are taxed the same way in India.
