On 8th August, our founders, Nitish and Sparsh, and the rest of the team hosted an Ask Us Anything session to answer your questions, outline upcoming Paasa features, and share exact timelines for our most popular requests.
We take all customer feedback incredibly seriously, and having these open conversations helps us understand your broader experience and how we can serve you better.
Thank you to everyone who joined, asked questions, and gave us the honest feedback we asked for. If you couldn’t make it, this recap covers everything we discussed.

What we're working on

Trade execution speed-up
Trade execution speed has been one of the most common pieces of feedback we've received. We're working on making this significantly faster.
This is currently our highest-priority product improvement.
Dark mode
We've heard this request more than any other. Since a lot of you use Paasa in the evenings, this is coming very soon.
Discovery
We're significantly expanding the Explore experience.
The idea is simple: if you're looking for a certain kind of investment (say, an ETF that tracks cloud computing) but don't know the exact ticker or where to find it, you shouldn't have to leave Paasa and go searching across five different tools before coming back to place the trade.
The new Explore page will make it much easier to search and discover instruments based on what you're looking for, helping you drill down into a collection of options (or a specific one) that fits your intent. It'll also be more verbose in explaining what a ticker means, what it's used for, and which exchange it's listed on, so exchange suffixes and currency confusion are easier to navigate from the start.
The goal is to make Paasa useful not just when you already know what you want to buy, but also when you're researching what to buy.
Common questions asked by you
Trading and orders
Why can't I enter an amount instead of shares on limit orders?
Amount-based investing is already available for market orders.
For limit orders, the current mechanism requires a number of shares because the order is being placed at a specific price. We're exploring whether we can allow customers to enter an amount and have the quantity automatically calculated.
Can I modify a pending order instead of cancelling and replacing it?
Not yet, but it's on our radar based on this feedback.
Why do some LSE assets not support amount-based buying?
Certain London Stock Exchange assets don't support fractional trading at the exchange level, so we default to shares there.
Why is the minimum lot size 100 on some Asian exchanges (e.g. Tokyo)?
That's an exchange-level rule, not a Paasa restriction.
Can search be more forgiving of typos?
Yes. We're moving off IBKR's search entirely to our own, built for better fuzzy matching and speed.
Market data and trading information
Why are some stock prices delayed?
For some non-US stocks and ETFs, including European securities, market data can currently be delayed.
IBKR itself can also have delayed data for certain markets. Paasa is working with a new market-data provider to bring European and LSE data much closer to real time.
The goal is also to remove the limited-data quotes currently shown in the app where better data becomes available.
There will still be occasional gaps for less well-known stocks and newly launched ETFs where reliable market data isn't readily available, but we're working to reduce these gaps.
When will bid/ask quotes be available?
We're working on enabling bid/ask quotes for US and LSE securities.
Can you add average target price to stock pages?
Yes. This was specifically requested during the session, and we're planning to include this in the new stock-page experience.
Funding, FX and withdrawals
Are you working on improving the funding and withdrawal experience?
Yes. We're working with banking partners on a new funding and withdrawal setup.
The objective is to make the process:
- Faster
- More seamless
- Better priced on FX
- Easier for recurring investments
- Easier when withdrawing money back to India
The new setup should also enable INR-to-remittance SIPs, allowing customers to automate recurring remittances and investments instead of manually initiating the process every month.
For withdrawals, the aim is to reduce the need to manually interact with your bank for forms and purpose codes.
What about FX transparency?
We also discussed feedback around FX rates and a Reddit post related to delayed remittances.
The specific issue discussed was a period when HDFC was experiencing delays in processing remittances. This affected multiple investment platforms at the time.
Paasa does not make money on remittances. We pass through negotiated bank rates through our payment service provider.
Tax and compliance
Will tax reports be ITR-compliant?
Yes. We also have a ClearTax tie-up (75% discount on filing) and are building a more direct one-click integration.
If I invest in Irish-domiciled US ETFs, am I still subject to US estate tax?
No. Non-US-domiciled ETFs fall outside the scope of US estate tax.
If I transfer RSUs or holdings from another broker, do I still get accurate tax schedules?
Yes. We ingest your existing broker statement and backpopulate your transaction history and cost basis.
Can I get my tax documents on demand instead of waiting for year-end?
Yes. We're planning a Tax Centre inside the app, where the same tax statements currently sent to customers can be downloaded on demand rather than having to wait for the annual email.
Where does my withholding tax certificate come from?
It's included in the ITR statement we provide, along with the 1042-S issued by IBKR. Together, these are sufficient to claim your foreign tax credit.
Can I see my STCG/LTCG position?
Yes. We already show tax information at the holding level. We're also working on showing the individual tax lots, making it easier to understand where your STCG and LTCG positions are coming from.
Joint accounts and nominees
How does taxation work on a joint account?
The general principle discussed during the AMA was that taxation follows the person funding the account.
Because IBKR doesn't maintain holdings based on which joint holder made each individual investment, the account-level tax statement doesn't automatically split holdings between the primary and secondary holders.
Our recommendation is therefore to keep the funding structure simple and consistent.
For example:
If Person A is funding an account and Person B is the secondary holder, Person A should ideally be the person funding that account.
If both people want to invest separately, a cleaner structure is to have two joint accounts:
- Account 1: Person A funds the account, Person B is the secondary holder.
- Account 2: Person B funds the account, Person A is the secondary holder.
This allows both people to have visibility and access while keeping the funding and tax reporting cleaner.
Can I add a nominee to my existing single-holder account?
Not directly. IBKR doesn't support this. The workaround is converting to a joint account, where the secondary holder automatically becomes the nominee.
You can reach out to support through the Paasa app to help you convert your single-holder account to a joint account.
I already have a single-holder account. Can I convert it to a joint account?
Yes. Our team can help create a new joint account and transfer your existing holdings into it.
The process may take around a week because the new joint account needs to be opened and the secondary holder's information collected.
The transfer is:
- Free of charge
- Does not change your cost basis
- Does not create a tax implication
There may be a short period during the transition when trading is unavailable.
We're also working on adding clearer guidance around joint accounts and transmission inside the app.
Portfolio and investment management
How often should I rebalance my portfolio?
There isn't one answer for every portfolio. It depends on the type of portfolio:
- Some portfolios may rarely or never need rebalancing.
- Momentum-oriented portfolios may rebalance more frequently.
- Thematic and asset-allocation portfolios may have different requirements.
As an Indian tax resident, you also need to consider the tax cost of portfolio churn because short-term capital gains can be taxed at your slab rate.
The analytics used in our advisory portfolios are also being brought into the app to help customers make these decisions.
Can I see average cost in my statements?
Average cost can be found in both the activity statement and the weekly report sent by Paasa.
Can I have multiple watchlists?
Yes. This was specifically requested.
For example, customers want to be able to create separate watchlists for:
- AI stocks
- Technology stocks
- ETFs
- Specific themes
Rather than having everything in one watchlist. This is on our product feedback list.
IBKR and account access
Do I need to log into IBKR?
No. Paasa is designed to be your only interface. IBKR login is optional and read-only if you want extra visibility.
Can I transfer my Paasa IBKR account to my own IBKR account?
Yes.
Web app
When will the web app catch up with the mobile app?
The immediate priorities are:
- Faster trade execution
- Dark mode
- Discovery
Once these are improved, we're bringing the same improvements to the web app and advisor dashboard.
The expectation discussed was to bring the web experience closer to parity around late August or early September, while continuing to add more functionality to the web experience.
Research and advisory
Can IBKR's market research be made available through Paasa?
This was an interesting request raised during the session, we will look into it.
Can we have a more focused session for advisory customers?
Yes. We will organise a few focused sessions specifically for customers who have taken our advisory services.
Others
Is there a dedicated Paasa support team?
Yes.
Can portfolio PDFs be password protected?
This was raised as a security concern, particularly for portfolio snapshots sent by email and WhatsApp.
We've taken the feedback and are looking into password protection and how these documents are shared.
Do I earn interest on idle cash?
Yes, above $10,000 (not ₹1 lakh).
Is there a better option than letting cash sit idle?
We're building an "Explore Bills" feature to surface investment-grade bonds and treasury ETFs as alternatives.
Are you planning to expand into the Indian market and become a one-stop solution for equity and commodity investing?
No, not at this point.
What you told us
The session was particularly useful because several of the things customers raised aren't the kinds of feedback we always get through normal support channels.
Some of the biggest themes we heard were:
- Faster trade execution
- Better discovery and research
- Better market data
- Easier funding and withdrawals
- More transparent portfolio and tax information
- Better joint-account guidance
- More analytics
- Better web and mobile parity
- More investment instruments
- Better search
- More research and advisory content
We're taking all of this back into our product roadmap and prioritisation. Some of these items are already being built, while others require more investigation or depend on external partners.
When are you hosting the next session?
This first Ask Us Anything session was really fruitful and thus we are thinking of making it a quarterly activity, so you can expect the next webinar in November.
How to send us feedback
If you have feedback, the fastest way to reach us is the "Give us feedback" section in the app (Profile tab), or write to us directly at support@paasa.co.

We read everything, and the more direct you are, the more useful it is to us.
