“99.99% of Indian investors basically missed the boat on global allocations.”

Nipun Sahni
Chairman, Bynd
Nipun Sahni spent over a decade at Apollo Global Management, most recently as Partner & Head of Real Assets for India. Before Apollo, he held senior real estate investment roles at Merrill Lynch and Blackstone. He is now Chairman of Bynd, working on generative AI for financial services.
Nipun's starting point is a statistic someone shared with him, and it stuck.
“Someone told me that more Singaporeans own Nvidia than Indians. And we have 130 million investors, Singapore has under a million.”
For someone who spent his career allocating institutional capital, the explanation was not a mystery. Accessing global markets from India has been complex and full of friction. And the people Indian investors rely on for advice had no reason to fix it.
“Indian MFs and their distributors were just so positively biased and focused on India that they, and hence 99.99% of Indian investors, basically missed the boat on global allocations.”
He signed up with Paasa last year. What made it stick was that the hard parts stopped being hard, including the one most platforms never mention.
“Paasa has made international investment and allocation so simple, at such low cost. Those who are familiar with and impacted by issues regarding US estate tax, Paasa derisks that too, which makes it compelling and a no brainer.”
